The Best Little Magneto Timer is a great project to build and you get a terrific tool to have around the hanger.   This design manual gives you complete information on how to build your own compact easy-to-use magneto timer  to perform external synchronization on engines with dual magnetos.  Our design is optimized to be simple to operate and very compact. It can be built small enough to fit into your shirt pocket although the detailed design in this manual is a little larger to make it easier to assemble.

It uses audio tones to provide a positive indication of magneto point closure. By having a separate tone for each magneto – you can adjust the timing of the magnetos so that the points of both magnetos open and close at the same time. The magnetos are then said to be "synchronized". The magneto timer is a simple battery operated tool that is easy to build. If you have built other electronic kits or even soldered a few wires together you should have no problems.
